Cox restores Internet service
High-speed Internet access
was restored Thursday night for 2,500 Cox Communications customers in the
Paris area.
Power outages in a vendor’s network caused circuitry problems with fiber
that transmits high-speed Internet for Cox Communications. Paris customers
were without Internet service Thursday from 4:15 a.m. until 9:20 p.m.,
according to Sue Saxenmeyer, vice president of public affairs for Middle
America Cox Communications.
“We isolated the problem in East Texas ... between Pine Acres and Big
Sandy, Texas,” the Cox representative said.
Cox technicians and engineers originally didn’t know where the problem was
located or what caused it, she said, so a large part of the day was spent
attempting to locate where the network problem originated. The area of the
power outage was not isolated until sometime Thursday afternoon,
Saxenmeyer said.
