Tuesday August 10, 2004 Cable, Internet service interruptedA damaged line Monday morning shut off digital cable and stopped high-speed Internet service for Time Warner customers in Jacksonville, Carteret County and parts of Wilmington. Service was spotty most of the day Monday for thousands of Time Warner customers, including Onslow County. Most had access restored by late afternoon, said Chris Marks, marketing manager for the Time Warner office in Jacksonville. He said engineers traced the cause of the outage to a fiber-optic line that was cut near Castle Hayne. While digital cable service and Internet connections were impacted, 86 channels of analog cable remained available. The cause was not immediately known...
