Wednesday August 25, 2004 United Online moves to ValleyWOODLAND HILLS -- The west San Fernando Valley has scored another corporate banner as United Online Inc., parent company of Internet providers NetZero and Juno, has completed the move to LNR Warner Center, officials said Wednesday. There are 283 people working at the company's headquarters at the northeast corner of Burbank Boulevard and Canoga Avenue. Terms were $35 million for 10 years, according to commercial real estate reports. United Online was previously headquartered in 50,000 square feet in Westlake Village but needed room to expand. The company found it in Woodland Hills at the sprawling campus-style complex that could eventually exceed 1 million square feet of office space. In the Valley's biggest office lease in the second quarter, United Online took 111,551 square feet of space on the three top floor of a building in the 21000 block of Burbank Boulevard. Its new neighbors include 21st Century Insurance, the big auto insurer, and Health Net Inc., both located just a few blocks away. "We needed more space. We had to get everybody under one roof," said Mark Goldston, the company's chairman, president and chief executive officer. "It's just a much more modern facility that really fits our needs." United Online has added about 70 employees this year and this headquarters setup can handle more expansion. "We were able to expand our technical capacity by being in this building. We have a much more elaborate network operations center ... and were just able to do a lot more things," he said.
